Surprise Visit

My good friend Ted stopped by unexpectedly today. Ted is a sax player I had the pleasure of working with at Bay Life Church for 6 years. He is one of the original CC Riders. The Riders, for those who don't know, was Wayne Cochran's back up band back in the 60"s. Ted played in the band at the same time as The Worlds Greatest Bass Player, Jaco Pastorius. He and Jaco were very good friends and I have heard enough Jaco stories from him that I almost feel as if I knew Jaco as well.

Last year Ted began working for a company in Houston, Texas and has been playing on weekends with some old friends of his. Originally from New Orleans, Ted was back there a few weeks ago on business and got to play with some old friends there too. One of his buddies from the CC Rider days was there and gave Ted a copy of a CD entitled Portrait of Jaco: The Early Years. It turns out that Ted is on a few of those tracks and there are some pictures of him with Jaco on the CD jacket. How cool is that?! Needless to say I will be purchasing my own copy of this CD.
